Slab leaks in the Houston area

Most homes here are built on concrete slabs, with water lines running underneath. The area’s clay soil swells when wet and shrinks when dry, and over time that movement can stress the pipes under your floor.

Common signs of a slab leak:

  • A warm spot on the floor
  • The sound of water running when nothing is on
  • New cracks in flooring or walls
  • A water bill that keeps climbing

Check for a leak yourself

Turn off every faucet and appliance that uses water. Then look at your water meter. Most meters have a small triangle or dial that spins when water is flowing.

If it moves while everything is off, you likely have a leak somewhere. Write down the meter reading, wait 15 minutes without using water, and check again.

Seeing movement? Send us a leak report or call.

Leak Detection & Repair questions

How do you find a leak under the slab?

We use listening equipment, thermal imaging and pressure tests to pinpoint the leak before any digging or cutting, so we only open up the spot that needs it.

Will you have to break up my floor?

Not always. Depending on where the leak is, we may be able to reroute the line through the walls or attic instead of going through the slab. We’ll walk you through the options.

Does homeowners insurance cover slab leaks?

It depends on your policy. Many policies help with the cost of accessing the leak and repairing water damage, but not always the pipe itself. Check with your insurance company.

What should I do while I wait for a plumber?

If water is visibly leaking, shut off the main water valve to your home. It’s usually near the street or where the water line enters the house.
